Overview
Gain hands on experience working in AI governance at a think tank or AI Governance organisation.

Our 2025 placements were at Safe AI Forum and Social Market Foundation.

​Eligibility
We primarily designed the programme for recent graduates interested in launching a career in AI policy after completing our AI Policy Accelerator. We may be open to accepting non-accelerator participants if they can demonstrate equivalent knowledge and background.
You must be available in-person for the training and placement in London. We might be able to sponsor temporary work visas for placement depending on your situation.​​​​​

Programme Timeline
1. Application​
Complete an application form and interview with us. If successful, you will be referred for a final stage interview with the placement organisation we have matched you to.

2. Preparation and training
Before your placement, you will attend a week-long training with us tailored to your role. This is a chance to get to know our team and answer any final questions you have before the placement.​​

3. Placement (June - September 2025)
The placement will typically last for 12 weeks. During this time you will be treated as a member of the team at your placement organisation and work on AI policy projects aligned to the needs of the organisation, your interests and development goals.
You will be supported in your development and wellbeing by our team and your line manager/team at the placement organisation throughout.

4. Post Internship
Following the internship, you will complete a short write-up reflecting on your experience. You will join our Orion alumni network, and we will continue to support you on your AI Governance career journey.​
